Activities
Hudson English Setter Club

As members of the English Setter Association of America (ESAA) and the American Kennel Club (AKC), we work to protect and advance the interests of the English Setter breed.  We encourage participation in dog shows (conformation events), field events (hunt tests), obedience trials, and agility trials.  We are eligible to host the National Specialty, and we conduct biannual specialty shows and hunt tests.
Conformation  events evaluate the dog's overall appearance and structure.  Each is measured against individual breed standards.  These standards describe the ideal size and proportion, structure and movement, color, and temperament.  Participants earn points which lead to a championship title.
Hunt Tests   are designed to evaluate the dog's natural hunting abilities and training.  Competing in Junior, Senior, and/or Master Hunt Tests offers you the fun of seeing your dog work, as well as feeling the pride of accomplishment in earning an AKC hunting title certification.
Obedience Trials  test a dog's ability to perform exercises on which it is scored.  Each time the dog reaches a qualifying score, he's achieved another "leg" toward his title.  As you work together, dog and owner build a closer bond and enjoy the ultimate experience of companionship and teamwork combined.
Agility  challenges a handler to direct their dog through an obstacle course in a prescribed amount of time.  The obstacles are arranged in unique configurations and provide levels of challenges which are appropriate to the class and experience of the competing dogs.
