In 1963, a group of people from the New York Metropolitan area formed the club in order to better know the breeders and owners in the area. The organization represented members within the general vicinity of Southern New York, Long Island, and New Jersey.
Forty one years later, HESC continues to sponsor events and offer social opportunities. These events emphasize the versatility of the breed and encourage English Setter owners to participate in various breed activities. We also publish a monthly newsletter which announces conformation, obedience, and field results of our members, a calendar of upcoming events, and provides informational articles. We welcome members who share our love of one of the world's finest sporting and companion dogs.

Welcome to the website for fanciers of English Setters in the New York - Metropolitan area! We are a small group who are devoted to enjoying and perpetuating these beautiful dogs. To encourage and promote quality in the breeding of purebred English Setters and to do all possible to bring their natural qualities to perfection.
To urge members and breeders to accept the standard of the breed as approved by the American Kennel Club as the only standard of excellence by which the English Setter shall be judged.
To do all in its power to protect and advance the interests of the breed by encouraging sportsmanlike competition at dog shows, obedience trials, and field trials.
To conduct sanctioned and licensed specialty shows, obedience trials, and field trials under the rules of the American Kennel Club.
